My body was in toxic overload and didn't know it. It was time for me to do something different. I changed my lifestyle and in turn changed my life by reversing all my ailments. And I've been helping others do the same thing. I have worked hard all my professional career, just like you have, and I want to ENJOY my retirement, my grandchildren, and my home. Wellness is NOT and Option. It’s a Mandate!
In 2000 I was licensed and later ordained as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As an advocate for naturopathic and holistic medicine, it is necessary to customize protocols per my clients needs. Every body is uniquely made so when a body is no longer functioning at its optimal energy (sickness or dis-ease) its my job to find out where the energy loss is and make recommendations for restoration. For example, wellness therapy (fasting), juice cleansing, B.U.L.L.S. system detoxification, Gerson Therapy, and Homeoprophylaxis are just a few of the healthiest alternatives to preventing, maintaining and reversing dis-ease in the body. Eradicating the symptoms associated with illness is most effectively achieved by seeking out the root and building from there. As a Teacher (Naturopath), my goal is to educate, reveal, and dispel untruths concerning the disconnect between nutrition and disease.
Before I received the "wellness is life" revelation, I lived a life in the fast lane; microwave frozen dinners, fast food-junkie, daily meat-eater, sweet tooth, root-beer floats for dessert, high stress work environment, emotional eating, late night habitual eating, processed foods, high fat/ high sugar diet, latest trendy diets, with no-to-minimal exercise. Total high cholesterol was 266; HDL 65 LDL 186 and Triglycerides 125. If you know anything about lipid panels you can see I was a strong candidate for heart disease if I had continued down that path. As a result of poor nutrition my body was plagued with health issues: chronic constipation, high cholesterol, high sugar levels, infertility, multiple fibroids, and appendicitis. Yep, you guessed it, surgery was inevitable. As a result of years of abusing my organs with poor diet I underwent three surgeries, and various regimens of treatments.
It was clear at this point, if I wanted to live past 30, that I’d needed to change and educate myself on how to heal my body naturally. This was the beginning of my ‘self-taught’ wellness journey; research, reading books, going to seminars, joining forums, listening to lectures, watching documentaries. This research led me to changing my eating habits and becoming a “Vegan.” After about a year or so of this drastic dietary change, I noticed I wasn’t losing any weight. Although I wasn’t consuming any animal proteins or isolated dairy, I recognized I was still constipated, sluggish, and my weight had not decreased. Therefore, I hit the grind again and furthered my studies. This round began with following long-time Whole-Food Plant-Based advocates, such as Dr. T. Colin Campbell M.D, Dr. John McDougall M.D, Dr. Pam Popper N.D, and Dr. Essestlyn M.D just to name a few. I also followed Jordan Rubin (founder of Garden of Life Products), and listened to Dr. Richard Schultz, herb doctor. When I finished reading “Whole” by T. Colin Campbell I understood why my body was not changing; I was still consuming a high fat and high sugar diet even though I was “Vegan.”
Eating at various “Vegan” fast food restaurants devouring foods filled with fillers and meat substitutes, the nutrition was minimal. After additional research I further learned about the nexus between detoxification and better health. Considering I never detoxed, my body was over taxed with toxins. I then opted to do a 60-day juice cleanse to clear out the cells and promote proper digestion. After this cleanse and 20+ lbs lighter, I was sitting with my legs crossed at the knee reading a book. Then it happened; a revelation, a light-bulb went on… a thought, “Hey my legs are crossed—I’m sitting upright, but my leg is not numb, my foot is not tingling, this position is actually comfortable. I’ve been sitting with my legs crossed for an extended period of time. Wow, I couldn’t do this before. Why? Why couldn’t I cross my legs at the knee-either at all or without numbness and tingling in my leg and foot? What had changed? Like a lightning bolt striking a box full of fireworks–it hit me! It was because, before, I was unhealthy with nearly 42% BMI (Body Mass Index.) I was too fat to comfortably sit upright with my legs crossed at the knee. Yikes! Hmmmm… how can I help others accomplish this same feat? I know! Take all that you’ve studied, learned, and LIVE, and put it in a comprehensive program with incremental steps. But what will I call it? Aha, the ‘Cross My Legs Campaign’, was born” (www.crossmylegs.com). I was my first client! With drastic results, I convinced my family to convert to what I call, Wellness Therapy; clean Whole-Food Plant-Based (WFPB) eating, tripled with daily-sweaty-exercise, and spiritual/emotional balance. This three pronged combination is highly effective and proven. Just two things are needed: 1. Time to reverse your issues and 2. If you are willing to STOP doing what made you sick in the first place then I am believe you can enjoy a life of health and wellness too.
